Personalized Potted Plants

My bridesmaid's 5 year old daughter wanted to learn about planting, so I started some seeds for her.. I thought I would make it extra special when I give them to her and experimented with some ideas. All the materials were really inexpensive and with a little patience, you can have yourself some cute wedding or shower favors. Peas for "Two Peas in a Pod" or Basil, which is a sign of Love in Italy. For Easter, they make great place cards, just change it up and make a bunny head or flower head. For a baby shower, use peas for "Our Sweet Pea" and change up the colors.

Materials:

1. Seeds - $2.99/seed packet with numerous seeds or $3.49/potted pansies.
2. Soil - $1.49/big bag
3. Peat Pots (seen in picture) $1.99/8 or for mini terra-cotta pots $0.15 at Joann's.
4. Shish kabob sticks, tooth picks or lollipop sticks to make the placecard stake.
5. Ribbon - $0.99/roll at ACMoore
6. Decorative paper - $0.25/12x12 sheet

For a wedding, I would suggest buying already growing plants from a nursery or Home Depot/Lowe's. If you're really ambitious, you can start the seeds yourself or leave them as seeds.

I trimmed the place cards with Provo Craft Shapers scissors with a scalloped edge #34-0001.
