Garden update Day 28

It's been a while since I made an update about my plants because nothing exciting was happening. Now I know why I read that you should prepare the soil with a mixture of peat moss and other things to retain moisture. Since I only used top soil, when the soil dried up, it got very hard and chunky. It was more difficult to put the moisture back in the soil and my plants were very delicate.

Day 20

Day 21

It was a beautiful day out and I finally had the opportunity to repot some of my plants. I did a few of each in order to see how well they do with the root disturbance. Tomato plants will root from the stem so you can plant them deeper so they develop a good root system.

I made little tags for each because I began to lose track.

I was experimenting and used one of Keith's flossers to make a flag.

With the remainders in the tray, I added more soil mixed with peat moss and vermiculite. I watered them well to restore the moisture content. Then I made some new tags for them. Also, top them off with more peat moss.

My peony plant is growing back in full swing. It's getting very tall in just a matter of days with the warm weather.

Child labor. Our neighbor's daughter wanted to help me and she did a great job. It was so cute. The watering can was heavy so she inched along and watered each one of my flowers bit by bit.

My peas in the back yard have germinated as well. I was afraid the frost and rainfall would have ruined them, but they are still in good shape. I added more soil on top of them because the rain washed alot its much needed soil away.
