New Stove!

January 3, 2010

Finally, after weeks of saving we purchased a new stove for the kitchen. A new stove was not a priority since there is nothing wrong with our old one. It's just outdated and did not match the rest of the kitchen. Home Depot had a sale, so we ordered it right a way. It's coming on Wednesday!

GE 30" Freestanding Gas Range here.

Of course I was coveting this one forever but there's just no pay off on a stove. It's just a sunk cost. It's stainless steel and cast iron, so it costs more and has more features, but it also uses more BTUs. In other words, it's going to cost you more to cook instant mac-n-cheese on this versus one of the less costly stoves. It also boils water faster. However, a convection oven would really be useful since I do love to cook and bake.

Maybe in our next home :)

Our stove is from 1979 (not an exaggeration), so I'm terribly jealous!!! That's the exact one I've had my eye on; had it in a former apartment, and I loved it. But our appliance purchase for the moment is a new dishwasher -- figuring we cook once a week, if that, and the dishwasher would get at least a bit more use than that!

Ah do I know the feeling of a new stove all too well! I went without one for 8 weeks when we moved into our new home. I'm so happy you get a new one! It's a great feeling.
Good luck with all your projects...We kind of put ours on hold for December...hopefully we can get back on it soon.

we have that stove! it's great, just make sure it's level before the installers leave. Ours is just a bit off and it's been pissing me off for 2+ years now. Also, buy an oven thermometer so that you can calibrate the temp. Ours ran about 30 degrees hot when it was new and we wasted a lot of money calling our handyman to fix it when the directions for how to adjust the temp. calibration are in the manual.
