Block Party Banner

November 6, 2008

*I just noticed a post that was in my drafts folder that never got posted. Originally dated for Aug. 28th, 2008*

Our block is having (had) their annual block party and I volunteered to make a banner to hang above the street. At first, the idea started out as an old bed sheet and acrylic paint. Then, I was curious to see if I could sew it. We can use it over and over again each year.

I embellished it with a butterfly and flower.

The letters "E" and anything with a center like "R" or "A" were the more difficult letters to sew because I had to stop at every single corner which got annoying after a while.

The leaf and bird is my favorite part of this.

Once it was up above the street, it seemed so short, but it was actually quite long. Next year, I will have to sew a back to it, so you can see it from both sides.

Water slide!!!

August 29, 2008

It's our annual block party and guess who had the privilege to have this baby in their front yard? Yup, you guessed it. The coolest people on the block!

Our neighbor Mr. C was generous enough to donate this to us for the party. The kids are going crazy over it! I love it too! How cool is a waterslide!? It's huge too. There's the big slide that wraps around and then a little slide for the younger kids that comes down the middle. Then there is a crawl space from the back of the slide to the pool.

Available at Costco and Amazon for approximately $299-399.

More block party pictures to come...
