Kitchen Acessories

March 12, 2008

My friend's bridal shower is in a few weeks and browsing her registry at Crate & Barrel has rejuvenated my desire to finish the kitchen...well, maybe not finish it, but "window" shop for stuff when it's done.

We have yet to determine what color we want to paint the walls. We're thinking a deep rich Red, but I'm afraid it will be too dark. Our dining room is already a pale green. We don't want to do blue either. I really like Barefoot Contessa's kitchen with the light green stripes and white cabinets.

Inspired by The Kitchn

It would be really lovely to have fresh herbs growing in the pots that I can snip as I cook.
Ikea $5.99

Spice Rack from Crate & Barrel, $39.99 for the entire set and $2.99 per jar.

More cost effective alternative at Ikea. $2.99 for a set of 4 jars (rack separate $5.99) Since we already have spices, we just need the jars. Then I can make our own custom labels that say "Anita's Kitchen" or "Keith's Cajun Spice" (Keith makes his own BBQ rub and stuff)

Kitchen Island from IKEA- We have a small kitchen, but at least it's not a galley kitchen where only one person can pass at a time. I think it will be really nice to find a narrow kitchen island such as this to store my cook books, place some colorful bowls, and an eat-in kitchen space. I think this would really tie the kitchen together.

Keith started working on the kitchen this week. My father in law bought all the wall board, nails, tape, and spackle. When I'm done with finals, we can empty out the cabinets, take them down, wrip off the wood paneling, spackle, paint, do the ceiling and then put the cabinets back on. Sounds easy, right? We'll see.
