The Peas meet The Bell Peppers
After we got back from our minimoon, we had Mr. and Mrs. Bell Pepper over for dinner. I was really looking forward to meeting another bee and this gave me a chance to stretch my domestic muscles as a newlywed. This was the first time we were entertaining another married couple and we were very excited about it. Finally, I was able to break out some of our wedding gifts and use the vegetables from my garden. As you can see, this pea had a bit too much fun in the sun.

I must have been going through wedding withdrawel because I made centerpieces and even thought about making placecards just for fun. Here's another neat idea - I used green tomatoes to fill the vases. I started with limes, but then Mr. Snow Pea complained he needed them for his caipirinhas. The green tomatoes were tomatoes that I knocked down while weeding before they had a chance to ripen.

Dahlia from my garden. They are gorgeous and in season right now.

I only added a few tomatoes because they were getting in the way of the stems. They also tend to float, so you should always test it out beforehand if you are considering DIYing your centerpieces.

No event goes by a bee without some photographs, so here's the menu:

Tomato salad (from my garden, of course) Grape tomatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper, basil and mint (also from my garden).

Fresh mozzarella, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, wheat italian bread and plum tomatoes (Oh, and did I mention these were from my garden?)

Bean dip - I learned this from our friend in Mexico.

BBQ Chicken breast marinated in soy sauce and citrus.

Aracherra (Skirt Steak similar to flank steak) Mr. Snow Pea learned this in Mexico as well.

Cajun chicken wings - We tried to copy the wings from Bahama Breeze.

Dessert - Watermelon from my garden.

Here's the whole gang!

Mr. and Mrs. Bell Pepper brought us macaroons from Longwood Gardens. They were very yummy and we finished them before the night ended.

Of course no night would be complete until you played Wii with the Peas. Lemon, I am still waitiiingg...

It got really late and I had no idea I held the Bell Peppers captive for so long. We had a great time and were glad to make some new veggie pals! Anyone else wanna come over for dinner with the Peas?
