So Mama does know best. My mom tied a bunch of plastic bags on a line in my garden. She had the right idea, but it looked awful, so I took them down. According to Gardeners Net, birds are skiddish and any movement or noise will scare them off. Wind chimes are supposed to work, so I'll try that. They are more aesthetically pleasing than plastic bags and sound nice too.
My peas are really tall now. I would say they are 2 feet tall now. I "re-trellised" them because they were falling over and getting tangled amongst one another. There are alot of blooms too. I'll have to go in there tonight and snip off the branches at the bottom to promote growth for the peas. There's basil along the edge here too.
The basil outdoors doesn't look as healthy and large as the ones here. Perhaps I need to add more rich soil to the ones outside. Some of my bell pepper looks like it might be ready to go outside too.
The Perilla (sesame) leaves are beginning to get jumbo overnight.
This really got jumbo with all the rain we had the last 2 days.
I am really amazed at how tall and thick my tomato plants are now. I can't believe I actually started these from seed.

Romaine lettuce has germinated. I have to thin them when they get 2-3" tall. I am going to see which ones do better. The ones in my planter or the ones outdoors.
That's it for now. Now I am looking for garden mesh or netting to drape from my fence to the ground like a tent to shield my plants from pests.

I am planting a salad garden this year so that I can pick leaf lettuce and use it in my favorite Korean-style meal . We go to the Korean market and buy veggie side dishes from the deli -cucumbers, bean sprouts, radishes, spinach, etc . . . .reBlogged to
